Painting quotes in Greater Montréal

One room, a whole unit between two tenants or the front of a shop: the same request works.
Describe your painting work
What a painter needs to know before pricing
A painter prices mostly from the surfaces and how much preparation they need. Give the number of rooms or the rough area, the ceiling height and what needs paint besides the walls: ceilings, doors, frames, trim, stairs. For the outside, name the cladding (wood, painted brick, metal), the number of storeys and the access from the street or the lane.
The condition of the surfaces changes the work a lot: cracks, holes to fill, water stains, old paint that flakes. Say whether the furniture stays, whether the home is lived in, who supplies the paint and how many coats you want. In an older building, old layers may contain lead: ask how the company prepares and protects the place before scraping or sanding.
Who does painting work
Painting is part of finishing work, subcategory 9 of the RBQ licence, which almost every construction company holds. So our painters list gathers the companies whose name, or other name on file with the RBQ, speaks of painting. To compare two quotes, check that they describe the same surfaces, the same preparation, the same number of coats and the same product range.

Frequently asked questions
How many painters will my request reach?
At most 15 licensed companies located near your city: a first group of 5 when you confirm the request, a second one a day later and a third three days after confirmation, only if you have fewer than 2 answers. Nobody can promise a quote, since every painter is free to answer.
What does the request cost?
Nothing, for you, and it commits you to nothing. The site takes no commission on contracts; its income will come from “Featured” advertising bought by companies, always shown as advertising.
Will my name be visible?
Not without your consent. The painter sees the type of work, the city, the timing and the budget, then the description if you tick the matching box. Your name, email and phone reach it only if you choose to pass them on.
Do I need a permit to repaint?
Not for interior painting, according to the City of Montréal page “Rénover l’intérieur d’un bâtiment” and the City of Laval page “Rénovation résidentielle intérieure” (both in French). For the outside, a front wall above all, the rule depends on the city or borough: check before you change a colour.
