How it works
Portail de soumissions (Quote Portal) lets clients in Greater Montréal — homeowners, tenants, building managers, businesses — describe their project to companies that hold an active licence from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ). We do no construction work and prepare no quotes: the companies answer you, each under its own licence.
1. You describe your project, once
In the “Get free quotes” form, choose the type of work and the city, then describe the project in your own words: what is broken or needs redoing, the room, the floor, when you would like it done and, if you wish, a budget. You can attach up to 3 photos of the problem (no address, house number, faces or licence plates). We then send you an email: the request goes out only when you click the confirmation link. A request that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days.
2. Who receives your request
The request goes out in waves to companies whose RBQ licence covers that type of work, near your city: 5 at confirmation, 5 more after 24 hours and 5 more after 72 hours while you have fewer than 2 answers, 15 at most. Emails go out Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and stop after 3 answers or when you remove the request. Featured companies that serve your city receive it first: that is an advertising placement, always labelled “Ad · Featured”. The others are companies whose email address is published on their own website, nearest first. Other licensed companies may also answer from the requests page, where your request appears without your name or contact details.
3. Who answers, and how to choose
Every answer comes from a company, which prepares its quote and sets its price under its own responsibility. You read the answers on a private page, through a personal link sent by email, and you alone decide whether to follow up, and with whom. We guarantee neither a number of answers nor a delay: that depends on the companies, the season and the kind of work. Before you sign, check the licence in the official RBQ register, insist on a written contract showing the licence number and compare quotes line by line; our printable checklist before you sign lists the useful checks.
4. What is free, and for whom
For you, the client, everything is free: the request, the answers, searching the lists and checking a licence. We take no commission on contracts. For companies, the profile and its confirmation are free; our income will come only from the “Featured” placement, an advertisement above the lists that does not change the order of the list itself. Right now, a launch offer gives the first 20 companies 3 months of free placement, without a credit card.
5. Your information
Three optional and separate choices, unticked at first: send the description to the companies, publish it on the site without your name or contact details, and pass your contact details to the companies that answer. Without that last choice, companies answer you through the site without seeing your name, email or phone. Photos are checked before anyone sees them, and their location and camera data are removed. You can remove your request at any time; it is deleted automatically 60 days after it was sent. The details are in the privacy policy; the person in charge of the protection of personal information is the President of the company, reachable at info@portaildesoumissions.ca.
The companies in our lists
The lists come from the active licences published by the RBQ (data dated November 3, 2026, updated every night): 20,230 companies in Greater Montréal. None pays to be listed or for its rank; the order of the lists is explained on the How to read our lists page.
Frequently asked questions
How many quotes will I get?
None is guaranteed. Your request goes out in waves to at most 15 licensed companies near your city, and each one decides whether to answer.
Is the service free?
Yes, for clients: the request, the answers, searching the lists and checking a licence are free, and we take no commission on contracts.
Who sees my contact details?
Only the companies that answer you, and only if you tick the box that passes them your name, email and phone. Otherwise they answer you through the site.
Does the site do the work?
No. We do no construction work and prepare no quotes: each company answers under its own RBQ licence.
