Renovation grants in Quebec 2026: LogisVert and Rénoclimat

Renovation grants in Quebec for 2026: what LogisVert and the new Rénoclimat cover, the published amounts, Montréal’s RénoPlex and the traps to avoid.

Two main programs help Quebec homeowners pay for energy-efficiency work: Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert and the Quebec government’s Rénoclimat. Rénoclimat changed its rules on October 1, 2026, and the amounts quoted online often contradict each other. Here is what the official pages said on November 1, 2026, what Montréal adds, and the order in which to do things.

1. LogisVert (Hydro-Québec): equipment

According to the LogisVert page, the program subsidizes, among others:

Both owners and tenants can use it, and low-income households can get a heat pump at no cost, with support from enrolment to installation. For a heat pump, the residential page lists $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8°C for an ENERGY STAR certified model, and $120 for a “cold climate” model. The company must be registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, hold the right RBQ licences and belong to its trade’s corporation; you apply within nine months of the installation and follow the file in the LogisVert portal. For an oil-heated house, Québec.ca’s oil heating page (in French) mentions up to $15,000 for a central system with a heat accumulator, and up to $22,000 if a central heat pump is added.

2. Rénoclimat (Government of Quebec): the new terms

Rénoclimat (in French) helps pay for insulation, air sealing and new doors and windows. Since October 1, 2026, according to the page on what is new in Rénoclimat (in French, updated October 13, 2026):

A new Adaptation component targets flooding: a submersible pump with battery (up to $1,000), a backwater valve (up to $700), a removable flood barrier (up to $800), and a guided path for homes in flood zones. If your house already had its evaluation under the old terms, finish the work and get the post-work evaluation by March 31, 2027 to keep those terms; appointment requests for a pre-work evaluation under the old system are no longer accepted.

3. In Montréal: RénoPlex and the City’s other programs

For buildings with 1 to 5 dwellings, the City of Montréal offers RénoPlex (in French, updated June 19, 2026). Its first component covers, among other things, plumbing, heating and cooling, electrical work and foundations; the second, for buildings with 2 to 5 dwellings, adds roofing, the envelope, openings and ventilation. The building’s value must stay under a ceiling ($3,860 per square metre for components 1 and 3), the minimum request is $3,000 for components 1 and 2, and you must wait for confirmation that the application is accepted before starting: allow 3 to 4 months, then 18 months to do the work. Permits come from the borough.

The City’s page on switching from fossil fuels to electricity (in French, updated March 3, 2026) also mentions Réno logement abordable, for buildings with 6 or more dwellings doing substantial renovations, including replacing an oil system. Laval, Longueuil and the other towns of Greater Montréal run their own programs, so check with yours.

4. What’s next

On October 8, 2026 the federal government announced heat pump subsidies starting in 2027; according to Hydro-Québec, the details are not known yet and LogisVert remains in force.

5. Traps to avoid
